Dear Jane...I mean Dear Mary Jane

This is a photo from the Dear Jane quilt my girlfriend, Mary Jane is making. She sends me pix of her projects and I do the same....it helps us feel like I can just drop by....even though I'm 8 hours away....booo hoooo.

I think choosing just one fabric for the designs really makes the designs pop. Besides...Red is one of my favorite colors....Green is up there too.

This is what MJ has to say, "Our guild has a Dear Jane group that I joined but making a whole quilt is overwhelming to me when I have so many other ideas in my head or UFOS that I want to finish. This is as many as I am going to make and finish it into a wall hanging. I enjoyed the experience of being with other women having the same interest and hand piecing but sewed the blocks together by machine. On to the hand quilting which I love the most."

Notice she loves the hand quilting the best? Now you know why she took the first place ribbon at the recent Needle Arts Guild of Toledo Exhibit.....she is EXCELLENT at hand quilting....every stitch is so tiny and perfectly spaced....I love her work. She taught me needle turn applique and my first project got a 3rd place ribbon at the same show....not bad ay?

Dear Jane quilt completed in two weeks?

Yes....I'm kidding. No one could complete a Dear Jane quilt in a few weeks. Or could they? Can you believe this "convenience cloth" Dear Jane??? A woman from the Black Swamp Quilters brought this in to show the rest of us gals. Now.....I think that there Dear Jane quilt my kind of Dear Jane!!! Just sandwich and stitch around the pieces....from a distance no one will know the difference.

I can just hear the booing and hissing from all my Dear Jane enthusiasts friends. Its like thinking you've been to Paris if you've watched a movie filmed in Paris....ain't no comparison!!! But that may be the only way I ever get a Dear Jane quilt.

Day Three Giveaway

You have an opportunity to win "Dear Jane" book by Brenda Manges Papadakis. This book is amazing...it has 225 patterns for a Dear Jane quilt. There are so many blogs that just talk about Dear Jane quilts....they are so beautiful.

Today you have to leave a joke in the comment section. It can be a cartoon, a joke or a funny story. Don't make me use the moderation button for your joke or story.....I'd just hate to do that :) Keep it moderately clean .... if you can't keep it too clean, than make sure us gals will really laugh :)

If you want to win a prize for this weeks giveaways please be sure to leave your e-mail in your post. If for some reason your computer does not allow you to leave comments feel free to leave your comments on my web site and I'll include them in the giveaway.

Dear Jane Quilts, Supplies and Tutorials

It seems everywhere I look I see more and more blocks from the Dear Jane series. I know Anya, Hills Creek Quilter , has been working on beautiful blocks for a long time and she posts her beautiful blocks on her blog. She has a slide show of her first one hundred blocks. She is using batiks and I just love them.

I found tutorials for the Dear Jane blocks by Anina from That Quilt Blogspot and they are great pictures for the tutorials. You will love the freezer paper she uses for paper piecing.

For those of you who are working on Dear Jane quilts or would like to start I have put a Dear Jane Supplies category on my website. The rulers, freezer paper to put through your printer, the Dear Jane book and the CD-Rom are all available at the lowest prices I have found on the web. You will also find some really great snips for cutting small applique pieces. You can't go wrong with I Have A Notion.

Tomorrow is Zach's 5th Birthday Party!!!! I can't believe my baby is going to be 5 (officially on Monday....and his sister is going to be 20....two born on the 11th of May).

Smiles,
Kelly
